An EPC contract for the installation of a 27.6 kWp grid-tied PV plant with remote monitoring features & smart applications. The plant was constructed mainly to perform R&D activities to make the solar PV plant more autonomous by acquiring the data from the field, send it to a server over an IoT network connected to a Wide Area Network (WAN) & run artificial intelligence algorithms to predict performance & reduce downtime. Solar characterizes were developed & installed to measure the IV characteristics of the installed panels to locate faulty panels easily & reduce downtime.
A weather station was installed & connected to the IoT network to measure wind speed, solar radiation, humidity, precipitation & air pressure to define patterns in the data model that will be used by the plant to perform autonomous decision enhancing grid stability . The IoT & WAN are designed with cyber-security features including wireless security & hardware security. The plant can be remotely controlled to facilitate the operator's job as he will not need to be in the field to measure, monitor or control. The plant includes a smart safety feature that prevents remote operation while local operation is in progress. The EPC contract was developed on a turnkey basis to supply & install the PV plant and a manual transfer switch to alternate operation between the 60 hp submersible pump & the 40 hp booster pump.
